New York - Clarence Fahnestock
Memorial State Park
In 2005 this campground was named as one of Reserve America's Top Outdoor Locations, and with good reason. This 14,086 acre park provides visitors with activities year round, with hiking trails, a beautiful beach, boating, hunting, fishing, birding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding. The scenic campground has 80 campsites with picnic tables and fire rings, as well as restroom and shower facilities. Movies are shown on Saturday evenings for the campers to enjoy. This campground also provides spaces for RVs, though there are no hookups or dump stations.
Boston - Boston Harbor Islands
Less than an hour's ferry ride from downtown Boston, The Boston Harbor Islands has campsites on four of 30 harbor islands. Camping is available on Lovells, Peddocks, Grape and Bumpkin Islands and reservations are required. If you want a great primitive camping experience, Boston Harbor Islands is for you. Although there are no showers or drinking water, you do have a wonderful view of the Boston skyline.
Florida - Juniper Springs
Recently featured in USAToday "10 great places to pitch a pup tent," and voted one of America's top Family Campgrounds by Reserve America, Juniper Springs in Central Florida boasts one of the great swimming holes in the state. Juniper Springs is located in the Ocala National Forest, about 90 minutes from both Jacksonville and Orlando. All sites include picnic table, BBQ grill, and fire ring. The campground has hot showers, flush toilets and baby change comfort change station, as well as a convenience store.
San Francisco - Angel Island
Readers of the Bay Area Guardian voted Angel Island "Best Campground." In addition to the history (Angel Island has served as a fort in the American Civil War, as well as an immigration station) Angel Island also provides campers with beach camping and incredible views of San Francisco and the East Bay. Be aware that the island can get windy, although several of the campsites are sheltered from the wind. The campsites are all grouped together, but spread out over the island (with the exception of three of the 11 campsites, which are together) so campers have some privacy.
Hawaii - Hawaii Volcanos National Park -
Apua Point Campground
If you're willing to hike to your campsite, consider Apua Point Campground in Hawaii Volcanos National Park. The reward? You'll be camping in one of the only campgrounds where you can witness volcanic eruption activity. Apua Point is only ten miles from Kilauea, the world's most active volcano. The campsite is limited to 12 campers.

Pennsylvania - Brookdale Family Campground
Brookdale Family Campground was voted Best Campground in Crawford County by the Meadville Tribune readers in 2006. Located in the Lake Region of North Western Pennsylvania, 7 miles east of Meadville on Rt. 27. All types of camping available: RV, pop-up, tent. Every campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. The campgrounds also includes 7 fishing ponds with free catch and release fishing. A full hookup site is only $31 per night, water and electric site is $28.
Connecticut - Seaport Campground
Another award-winner, Seaport was voted Best Campground in Connecticut in four categories in Frommer's Guide. Located in the coastal town of Old Mystic, minutes away from saltwater beaches. Features include: water & electric hookups, some with cable and 50amp service; automatic laundromat, grocery store, full-sized swimming pool fishing Pond, miniature golf, horseshoes, children's games and live entertainment.
Branson, Missouri - ABC RV Park

Los Angeles Area - Dockweiler State Beach
Want some great ocean sunsets to go with your RV camping? Check out Dockweiller State Beach located in Playa Del Rey, just south of Los Angeles. It's as close to the sand as you can get in an RV. There are 82 full hookup sites and 35 spaces without hookups, with showers, restrooms and laundry facilities. Each site includes picnic table and grill. The upside are the awesome views. The downside is that you're near the airport, which can be noisy. But, if the noise doesn't bother you, the views are incredible. There is no tent camping.
Yellowstone National Park -
Yellowstone's Edge RV Resort
Yellowstone's Edge RV Resort is located just 35 miles north of the North entrance of Yellowstone National park, occupying more than a quarter mile of riverfront along the Yellowstone River, which, the Resort points out, is one of the top ten fly-fishing rivers in the world (the Yellowstone River is a catch and release river). RV sites include full hook-ups with 30/50-amp power supply. Amenities include store, laundry facilities, showers, game room. You can also book a trip with a fishing guide. Outdoor activities in the area include: fishing, hiking, horseback riding, rafting and backcountry exploring. RV rentals are in Bozeman, 48 miles away, in case you wish to fly in and rent an RV.
