Acorn Acres is another "Most Beautiful Campgrounds" according to Frommer's, and is open from mid-April to Columbus Day. One thing here to consider is Acorn Acres definition of family: Two adults and their unmarried children. An additional adult family member is charged $100 extra. Amenities include:

  • Over 200 sites for camping in tents, trailers, and RV's
  • Most sites have water and electric (30 & 50 amp available) hook-ups
  • Some have sewer and cable
  • Swimming pool

If you're heading up to the Canaan Mountains and want a resort-like camping experience, head on over to the Lone Oak Campsites in East Canaan, open from mid-April to mid-October. They allow 4 adults maximum per site, or one family. Their family definition is 2 adults and their unmarried children. Amenities include:
