St. Cloud Campground and RV Park - St. Cloud, MN

Located approximately 70 miles northwest from Minneapolis off U.S. 94, St. Cloud Campground and RV Park is considered one of the best campgrounds in all of Minnesota, receiving high marks for beauty, privacy, quiet, security, cleanliness and facilities. The campground is open April through mid-October, offering 18 tent-only sites and 88 RV sites. The tent sites are separated from the RV sites, and each site comes with picnic table and fire ring. There is also 30, 50 amp electric, water and sewer hookups for the RV sites, as well as dump stations, laundry facilities, general store, rest rooms and showers.

Town and Country Campground - Savage, Minnesota

Town and Country Campground is even closer to Minneapolis - only 18 miles south off U.S. 35. Town and Country Campground offers 82 RV sites with 20, 30 and 50 amp hookups, as well as water, sewer, phone and cable TV hookups, as well as 10 tent-only sites. All sites come with a picnic table. Campfires are not permitted at individual sites, but there is a community fire ring.

Perfect for kids with an incredible array of activities, such as the 2,000-sq.-ft. swimming pool and gigantic enclosed slide; 18-hole miniature golf course, fishing lake, boat rentals, hiking and biking trails. Open mid-April to the end of September. There are 280 RV sites with electric (30, 50 amp) water, sewer, and cable TV hookups, as well as 17 tent-only sites. Each site comes with a picnic table and fire ring. Facilities include a dump station, laundry, restrooms and showers and a general store. Quiet domestic pets are welcome if they are on a leash, not left alone and are cleaned up after. The only odd thing about this campground is their policy about what constitutes a family - "One unit, one family (mother, father, children under 18 living at home) per site. ALL other arrangements must be cleared with campground management at the time of the reservation." If you have any other family arrangement be sure to mention it when you reserve your space.

Split Rock Lighthouse State Park

Camping in Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is like camping in paradise - this is, if camping in a pristine campsite along Lake Superior sounds like Heaven to you. No casino here! Or shuffleboard for that matter. But, what you will get is fantastic fishing for lake trout, salmon and brown trout, a rocky beach, hiking trails and a historic lighthouse. A great place to get away from it all. This park is situated on the North Shore of Lake Superior, and offers 20 cart-in camping sites within 2,000 feet of the parking lot. Wheeled carts are available to haul your supplies to your secluded campsite. Camping is available year round.

During winter the park provides 8 miles of groomed (intermediate level) cross-country ski trails and 3.5 miles of snowshoe trail and 1 mile of winter hiking trail. Snowshoe rentals are available. The lighthouse is open for tours mid-May to mid-October.
